Default Writers & Reviewers: Techgage Wants YOU!

With all the changes going on here at Techgage, we've all been pretty busy - which means that it's time to look for a few good writers to add to our staff. We're seeking to add two new authors to our team, to ensure that we can continue to provide the best in cutting-edge PC hardware and software news, reviews, and industry analysis. So if you think you can do what we do, then here's your invitation! We've got a lot more on our roadmap for the near future, but we need dedicated people that can help make it happen.

All positions for Techgage are currently voluntary, but rewarding. In addition to being a great way to get your fix of the brand-new 'shiny-shiny' of the tech industry, you get to build your reputation as a knowledgeable authority in the world of PC technology, and you get a cool Techgage.com email address. You'll also join a spirited team of dynamic individuals who care deeply about providing our visitors with the best experience possible.

To be the best candidate for a position at Techgage, we suggest that you:
  • Are passionate about PC technology (being opinionated is a plus!);
  • Are a "self-starter" who is willing to work independently on projects;
  • Has good communication habits with peers;
  • Can meet deadlines and provide content one to two times a month;
  • Be able to write with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
  • Are generally knowledgeable in most areas of PC hardware (CPUs, motherboards, graphics, storage, peripherals, accessories), software (gaming, productivity, operating systems), or consumer electronics (home theater, audio, video, 'connected home' products) - and highly knowledgeable in at least one;
  • Have an entertaining writing style.
We are specifically looking for two areas to fill at this time. The first position would involve reviewing myriad peripherals, gadgets and fun "extras" in the industry. The second position will involve a deeper focus on Audio/Video including HD Video, video capture, sound (soundcards, preamps, headphones and speakers), and software relating to these areas. If seeing a lot of either of these areas sounds like heaven to you, then what are you waiting for?

Applicants must submit a writing sample of no less than 1200 words in the form of a mini-review of a tech product you already own (even if it's an old IBM AT keyboard), geared toward the Techgage audience. If you're already writing in the tech industry, you may submit two published examples of previous work instead. We'd also like to know what areas of PC technology you're most interested in, as well as how much content you would like to write.

To apply or to ask specific questions, please send an email to Brett.Thomas [at] Techgage [dot] com. All serious applications will be considered, and responded to within 48 hours.

Please note that longstanding members of the Techgage forums and community are strongly encouraged to apply, and will be given preference. After all, nobody knows what the community is looking for more than its own members!

Peripherals means things like keyboards, mice, gaming accessories, et cetera. The other stuff could be where we might see something cool that might be worth taking a look at, but it may not fit into a category of product we would regularly take a look at. Take these two articles for example:

http://techgage.com/article/trendnet...travel_router/

Neither of those products fit into our usual categories, but both could be considered "gadgets".
