Default Time-out

I'm never able to sit for long uninterrupted while on these forums. Either kids or the wife require attention, the phone rings, or I'm looking up some words of wisdom to share with fellow forum members. And I'm constantly having to log in. Today I've entered my password several times. Is there a huge reason for this, or am I not getting the message that I'm not wanted? ;(

It's likely an error either with your ISP (say they're moving your IP addy around) or with your browser. Try clearing your cache and redoing all your cookies. It may fix it.

It's not us man, we like having you around.

Yeah I don't know. I heard of someone else having this problem lately, but I'm not sure how it would be tied to the forums. I haven't had to re login for months. What browser are you using?

I never have to re-login either. Your browser might not be saving cookies.

It's all about selecting 'remember me' and being able to accept the cookie that is thus generated. If you aren't accepting cookies, or are clearing your cookies frequently (like every time you close your browser - an option with Firefox) then you'll have to log in every time.

For some strange reason, I too, am always experiencing trouble with log ins, even after pressing the good-old 'Remember Me' button. The forum just seems to want to forget to remember me!

Often times, even before I have sufficient time to post one of my stupid comments, I discover that I am no longer 'loged in.' Why? Is it because my main OS is OSX? I thought so at first, but the problem persists whether I use my Linux or XP Home OS's, so thankfully, its not OS discrimination.

I have used Explorer, Firefox (Windows; Linux; OSX) and it makes no difference. I have also tried (on the OSX side) Camino, Shiira, the cool open-sourced Japanese browser, Safari and Opera. Maybe I will try iCab, the fast German OSX browser just to see, but am not expecting much.

@ macman. The site has ID'ed you as a mac user and thus not compatible with the section of humanity that we feel deserves to contribute to the next generation.

I'm sorry, there just isnt a known definative reason for the macuser syndrome. If you swore you alliegiance to the PC and PC alone you might be allowed to survive a few more years than the other people suffering from macittis.

@ everyone else... If your browser is set to clear cookies everyso often or clear the cache every so often it might logg you out as well.

Ha, ha, I will swear alliegiance to the PC when they prey my cold, dead fingers from the Apple Mightymouse! I'm a PC'er too, but loving style and function, rather then a poor and crude copy of the Mac, that people love to run down, but turn around and shamelessly copy, I will primarily cruise the the future as Pc'ers and Linux babies try, in the present, to emulate us.

As for my previous problems, hey, I fixed them lickidee split. After all, "I THINK, THEREFOR iMAC!"

Actually, I don't like the Mighty Mouse, I use an evil Microsoftie mouse. At least, in the after-glow of the iPod Halo effect, I can comfort myself in knowing that 9,000 people per-day are switching to the Mac, or as I prefer to call it, the new OpenStep OS, which is what OSX really is. 100% Unix; Zero Micro-Crap, and I can do what Window's and Linux users CAN'T DO, run every bloody software package out there.

To each their own.

Today, I tried several times, wouldn't let me log into this forum... tried several times. Too many log-in attempts. Wanted me to type in the secret code (bot prevention) Gave up. Never worked.

I just came back, and now I'm remembered and didn't have to log in.
