Default Looking for help to beta test a feature...

Hi all:

As I'm sure many of you are already aware, we're going to be celebrating Techgage's 5th year in operation next month. To help with that, we're going to be offering up a kick-ass gaming PC, and to have a chance at winning, all that will need to be done is for you to fill out our survey, which will greatly help us in developing our site further.

We ran a similar contest a couple of years ago, and though we thought the survey software was perfect, it turned out to have a couple of problems... problems that I'd like to avoid this time around. Because we're using custom-built software, rather than something off-the-shelf, we're due to encounter a couple of bugs. To help us squash what may be the last few remaining, I'd like to recruit some official "beta testers" to help break it.

To properly test our survey software, I'd like to find people who meet these conditions:

A) You have more than one e-mail address, and with more than one domain (eg: an @hotmail AND an @yahoo.com)
B) You don't mind deliberately trying to break our software, and find areas where it may cause an issue for regular users.

Some examples would be leaving certain questions unchecked, using special characters where they don't belong, et cetera. For those who take the time to help us out in this regard, we'll count your entry into the contest as two.

Please send me a PM if you're interested!

Rob

I'll send details to those who PM'd me sometime today. I need to finish up a couple of things before I have people test.

Thanks for all the help with beta-testing guys. The code's been merged with the live site, so we're good to go when the contest launches.

During beta testing, did anyone here have a problem with text or questions overlapping each other? I got one report of it, so I'm just wondering if it's common.

Could it be an issue with a specific browser perhaps? FF 3.0.17 did not exhibit that issue.

Well I've tested with Firefox, Konqueror and Opera under Linux, and Firefox, Chrome, IE and Safari under Windows and didn't have an issue. Either way, if someone does encounter the issue, it would take nothing more than a refresh to fix it. I have a feeling that there could be an issue if someone is on a really slow connection. Even then, I'm not sure.
