Default AMD to Launch New Radeon Series Later this Week

The launch of AMD's "Northern Islands" GPUs has been rumored for some time, but the company itself let the cat out of the bag during an earnings call last Thursday, which placed October 22 as being the official launch date. I don't believe that the company admitted to the exact models being queued up for launch, but based on the most popular rumors, they will be the Radeon HD 6850 and HD 6870.

I don't believe that AMD changed the naming, I call BS so if they didn't it should be the 6750 & 6770 being released (since the mainstream is supposed to be released first) because otherwise what would they call the dual GPU cards? 6950x2 and 6970x2? I like the 5k scheme and I feel they described the cards better

I still think they got rid of the ATi name.

I knew ATi was gone for sure but I hope they don't flip the naming, keep it nice and consistent its not confusing its simple and great how it is.
