I haven't noticed more spam in the forums I frequent (mods may be zapping it before I see it) but I have definately seen an increase in mail spam I receive.

You are not alone, a lot of forums have been hit with spammers, I have seen as many as 5+ a day, heck one guy posted 200 times (some dedication) making it a pain to clean up.
The majority of spammers I have seen are "human" at least until they have established an account, after that they program the details into a robot that updates profile info and starts posting messages. Luckily the majority of them post right away which allows you to delete them on site however some just create the account and come back several months later and update their profile info. (sneaky bastards) The ones that really get me are the spammers who make innocent posts asking for help then after 3 or so replies they come back with another post full of links. Removing the ability to update sig or homepage info is a nice fix, although it doesn't solve the problem, some anti spam tools allow you to control this with a post count requirements but that really hurts your members more than preventing spam. Best thing you can do is require account activation by email, that alone will remove almost all of the automated postings, the next thing you can do is choose a non-standard captcha which will force the spammers to be human. It won't remove all of your spammers but helps quite a bit. |

it would be, if I wasn't running SLI and your CPU is likely a C3 lower volts on it. Supposedly OCs better, but its max vcore is 1.45, not that it means much, mine is at 1.53 47C and 47C ambient in the case lol dang gpu toasters.
